We're not a faceless corporation — we're your neighbors. An independently-owned Honest Water Co franchise serving the greater Chicago area, built on the simple belief that clean water shouldn't come with a sales pitch.
Here's the truth: most Chicagoland tap water is technically safe, but it's full of chlorine and hardness minerals that scale up appliances, dull your laundry, and make everything from coffee to showers less enjoyable. We test it, explain it, and fix it — without upselling you on a system you don't need.
We serve homeowners across Chicago, Naperville, Schaumburg, Oak Park, Evanston, Arlington Heights, Palatine, Hoffman Estates, Mount Prospect, and the surrounding suburbs.

Testimonials
What Chicagoland Homeowners Say
Real reviews from families across the Chicago area who made the switch to clean water.
"Two competitors quoted us over $5,800 for the same setup. Honest Water came in well under that, installed in under three hours, and left the basement spotless. Water actually feels different."
"Night and day. No more spotty glassware, soap actually lathers, and my wife says her hair stopped feeling like straw. Walked us through every option with zero pressure."
"Finally drinking from our own tap after years of bottled water. The RO paid for itself in months. Scheduled same week we called."
"Professional crew. Tucked the equipment neatly into a corner of the utility room — you'd never know it's there. Highly recommend the whole-home setup."
"Our well water had a sulfur smell that embarrassed us when guests came over. Gone after a day. Best home upgrade we've made in years."
"Five-year warranty and they actually pick up the phone. Had a small valve issue at month four — tech came out the next morning. That's why we went local."
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Questions before scheduling your visit? Here are the ones we get most.
Why are your prices so much lower than the $10K+ in-home quotes?+
Short answer: we don't carry the bloated overhead. The big in-home water companies employ thousands of door-to-door sales reps who drive to your house, sit at your kitchen table for two to four hours, and close on the spot. Their pricing has to cover huge commission stacks, "free water tests," national advertising, and corporate margins — often $5,000–$8,000 of pure markup baked into a single quote. We use the same (or better) components — Jacobi coconut-shell carbon, USA-made ResinTech resin with the WQA Gold Seal, ceramic-disc valves — just without paying for someone else's pressure-sales theater. That's why our pricing comes out roughly 1/3 of theirs.
Will this soften every drop in the house, and does the RO go under the kitchen sink?+
Yes. The softener and whole-home carbon filter are installed where your water enters the house, so every shower, faucet, washing machine, dishwasher, and water heater gets soft, dechlorinated water. The reverse osmosis system is installed under your kitchen sink with its own dedicated drinking-water faucet — purified water for cooking, coffee, ice, and drinking.
Does the RO feed the dishwasher and fridge line too?+
Standard installs include the RO faucet at the kitchen sink. We can run a line to your refrigerator/ice maker for an additional fee — most homeowners love it for crystal-clear ice. We don't run RO to dishwashers; the softener+carbon combo handles those appliances perfectly and uses far less water.
Don't you need minerals in your drinking water?+
It's a common talking point from companies selling alkaline upsells. The reality: the minerals your body actually uses come from food, not water. That said, every RO we install includes an alkaline / remineralization stage that adds calcium and magnesium back in for taste and pH balance. You get the purity of RO with a clean, slightly mineralized taste.
What components do you actually use?+
USA-made ResinTech high-capacity resin (WQA Gold Seal certified), Jacobi coconut-shell catalytic carbon, ceramic-disc control valves, NSF-certified RO membranes, and stainless braided connectors. These are the same tier of components the big in-home companies install — we just don't mark them up 4x.
What size tank does the system use?+
Our standard Complete system uses a 1.5 cubic-foot resin tank, which is sized for a typical 3–5 person Chicagoland home. Larger homes, higher water hardness, or higher daily usage get our XL (2.0 cu ft) or Dual Tank setups. We size it based on your actual water profile and household — never one-size-fits-all.
How efficient is the RO? What's the water-waste ratio?+
Our 7-stage RO runs about a 1:1 ratio (one gallon of waste per gallon of purified water) — far better than older 4:1 or 5:1 systems still sold by some competitors. For a typical family, that's a few gallons a day going down the drain — less than a single dishwasher cycle.
If something needs maintenance or repair, do I have to find a plumber?+
Nope. We're a local Chicagoland team and we service everything we install. Call or text and we'll come out — under warranty there's no labor charge in the first year. After that, service calls are flat-rate, not surprise-billed.
Does the price include installation, or are there surprise fees?+
The quoted price is the installed price for a standard install (utility-room or basement near the main shutoff, kitchen RO under the sink, drain within reach). If your home needs anything non-standard — trenching, attic tie-ins, long buried runs, specialty plumbing — we show you the exact additional cost in writing before any work begins. No surprises at the end.
How is this different from the in-home water companies (Culligan, RainSoft, etc.)?+
Equipment-wise, very similar — sometimes better components. Process-wise, completely different. No three-hour kitchen-table pitch, no "free water test" theatrics, no high-pressure close, no $9,000 quote that mysteriously becomes $5,000 if you sign tonight. Our price is the price, in writing, the first time you see it.
Do I really need a softener AND an RO?+
They do different jobs. The softener removes hardness minerals (calcium and magnesium) from every drop in the house — that's what protects your plumbing, water heater, and appliances and makes your skin, hair, and laundry feel better. The RO removes dissolved solids, chlorine byproducts, lead, PFAS, and other contaminants from your drinking water specifically. Most Chicagoland families want both because they solve different problems.
How long does installation take?+
Most installs take 3–5 hours start to finish. We work around your schedule, protect your floors, haul away packaging, and walk you through the system before we leave. Same-week appointments are usually available.
Will it really pay for itself?+
Between extended appliance life (water heaters and dishwashers last 30–50% longer on soft water), less soap and detergent, no bottled water, and dramatically fewer plumbing service calls, most Chicagoland homeowners are net-ahead within 4–6 years. After that, every year is savings — and that's before counting what better skin, hair, and laundry are worth.
What's your warranty?+
Lifetime warranty on the dry parts and storage / media tanks, 5-year warranty on the control valve, circuit board, and filtration media, and 1-year warranty on installation labor. The reverse osmosis system carries a 1-year warranty. Full details are on our warranty page.
